Age-old traditions of Greece have been instilled in Greek cuisine throughout Ancient Greece and Modern Greece times. To put it more precisely, the 3 most fundamental ingredients of Greek cuisine are bread, wine, and olive oil. These elements have remained constant and not only represent frugality for Greeks but simplicity. You will notice we use a significant portion of olive oil in our traditional Greek mezes. Our classic Greek dishes are also served with complimentary pita bread (Greeks would not have it any other way!).
As for Greeks wine, it is an essential part of Greek culture to this day. The diverse Mediterranean climate of Greece has played a vital role in wine production, from the many islands such as Mykonos all the way to the mountainous range of Pindus. Each Greek wine tastes different based on the climate origin, thus making them quite unique to say the least. Moshofilero and Malagousia are two of the most highly ranked Greek wines – we offer both by glass and bottle. But our love for Greek culture does not stop here. We have incorporated traditional Greek herbs and handmade syrups in our modern-day craft cocktails. We release new specialty cocktails each month using premium ingredients, so that you will always have an opportunity to experience something new at Nick’s Taverna. To spice things up, we added a twist to our Happy Hour & Late Night bar menu to include an emphasis on Greek culture. Whether you are dining with friends and family or enjoying a special night conversing over one of our famously known Greek wines, we promise you will not be disappointed!
In America, we often like to say, “Enjoy your meal!” and in French, it’s known as “Bon appetite!” but in Greece we say καλή όρεξη (kal-LEEOR-ex-ee). We cannot wait to see you! Be sure to follow us on social media for regular updates.
